Neither Gross or Hysen have played at a professional, or even semi-professional level before. The only football experience they have had is playing for their school team back home at Switzerland. Both are studying at Paisley Univiersity this year and a trial was arranged over the close season with help from their dad. After playing a game or so for Clyde, they came to Love Street and obviously impressed enough to win a contract. Hysen certainly looked good (with the exception of his shocking mullet) against Morton in the second half. Both players will probably play in the youth teams or reserves this season.
Former Saint Ronnie McQuilter is currently looking for a new club. The defender, who was playing for Brisbane Strikers last year, said in todays Daily Record "I am looking for my 13th club now and hopefully I can get something fixed before this new transfer window comes into operation." McQuilter played one season for Saints, in 1998/99 after being signed on a free transfer by Tony Fitzpatrick from recently relegated Stirling Albion. To say he was shocking is an understatement. He was injured for the title season, and despite playing in a few pre season friendlies in the summer of 2000, he soon moved on to Clydebank.
