Mr Gilmour was speaking on BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound programme about the potential takeover by Richard Atkinson and Chris Stewart, which would see the club owned by a community interest company.
The current chairman admitted he didn't know much about the workings of such organisations (making you wonder why they didn't get one of the other two on the show) but did say the funding package was now in place and it was now up to supporters, individuals and the like if they wanted to support the bid to buy out the majority shareholding.
Mr Gilmour and a number of other directors put their shares up for sale in September 2009 and Mr Atkinson and Mr Stewart joined the board last summer. Things then went rather quite until yesterday when two new advisers to the board - including club legend Tony Fitzpatrick - were named.
It now seems things are moving quickly with Mr Gilmour revealing more details will be revealed later this week, a view backed up by Chick Young who said Thursday's Sportsound was likely to have information.
Other snippets included Mr Gilmour saying he believed the potential owners were the right way forward for the club and it was hoped to have the deal completed by the end of the season.
I won't give my thoughts on things until I see the full details, if they do indeed emerge this week. However, I have yet to hear anything that convinces me this is the right way forward.
