To avoid confusion, we are talking about the midfielder that has been with us since 2009 and spells his name without a P, rather than the striker we're supposedly about to sign.
Thomson is out of contract in the summer and was thought likely to leave as he is supposedly one of our higher earners. However, it now looks as if he is going to sign for another year, which is good news. Thomson likes to get forward and have a shot, but isn't afraid of a tackle and does plenty of the dirty work too.
If Thomson does sign, it means Lee Mair, Hugh Murray, Jim Goodwin, Jure Travner, Paul Gallacher and Jure Travner are the only members of last season's squad who have yet to sign a new contract.
