Former Dundee United midfielder Cameron's involvement was made public on Friday night, with Gilbert joining up with the squad after an unsuccessful bid to win a contract at Dundee. The leftback has played for St. Johnstone before but has most recently been in South Africa, where he was born. There were rumours we were interested in him a few weeks ago but everything went quiet until yesterday. By all accounts, he seemed to do well.
The other trialist was a bit of a surprise, and I'm only assuming it was McLeod by reading forums elsewhere. The 29-year-old has been about a bit in his career, starting off with Everton and also having spells at QPR, Swansea and, most recently Wycombe Wanderers. He seemed to put in a decent performance on the left side of midfield and may be worth another look - although we're running out of time for things like that!
On another note, it seems the open day at Greenhill Road and the club's training complex at Ralston was a huge success with adults and youngsters alike.
