That five goal haul sparked a lot of interest in Mehmet, with English Championship side West Bromwich Albion supposedly after him. That speculation has come to nothing, but now it seems Genclerbirligi are trying to sign him ahead of Tuesday's transfer deadline.
Mehmet is from London but has represented the Republic of Ireland's under-21 side. His father is Turkish and apparently he can speak the language, which is perhaps why he has come to the attention of this club.
The striker's contract is up in the summer but we'd still be after a reasonable fee if he were to leave now, especially as there is hardly any time for a replacement to be brought in.
