This is good news as Shuggy has been playing superbly this season, and di well last season. In fact, with the exception of 98/99 and our SPL season, Shuggy has been good just about every year. He made the mistake of leaving for England in the summer of 2002, but came back when he couldn't get a contract. I was a bit wary of that as he had previously bad mouthed the club, but fortunately he quickly got into good form.
Shuggy entered the new Saints Hall of Fame at Sunday's annual dinner, joining Ricky Gillies, Campbell Money and Tony Fitzpatrick. Shuggy has made over 200 appearances for Saints, and there is one which most Saints fans will always remember. On the 2nd of May 1998 against Stirling Albion at Forthbank, Shuggy scored a screamer which kept us up and alive.
Shuggy is one of only three players with a contract beyond the end of the season, the others being Kirk Broadfoot and David van Zanten.
