The trio had been the only members of last season's title winning squad who had not signed new contracts. Lappin and Corcoran have both been tempted to stay and have signed two year contracts, however it looks as if van Zanten has decided his future lies elsewhere.
This is perhaps surprising considering that there is a solid contract offer on the table. He only needs to look at the examples of Allan Russell and Hugh Murray to see that things are not always better elsewhere.
Vanzy signed for Saints three years ago after playing against us in a Sun Transfer Window XI trial game. Having been released by Celtic, he has improved greatly with us and has become a firm favourite with the Saints supporters.
Hopefully he will see sense and decide he does want to stay after all.
