Vanzy left the club two years ago for Hibs, but was there for just over a year before he was released. Short spells with Morton and Hamilton followed but he is now a free agent once again.
A rightback who can play right midfield if required, he would be an ideal replacement for Jack Ross, who will almost certainly leave the club in the near future. However, it's debatable whether he can recapture the form from his first spell with the club, which saw him win the double in 2005/06 before going on to perform well enough in the SPL to win his move to Easter Road.
Speaking in today's papers, Lennon said: “David is someone I know from his first time at St Mirren and we are always looking for good players. He’s certainly one that interests me.”
There were rumours a few weeks ago that van Zanten, who started his career with Celtic, had already signed for the club but these appear to be untrie.
