Adam, a key member of our double winning side from the 2005/06, has been superb for Blackpool since joining them from Rangers last summer. He signed for just £500,000 (admittedly a lot by our standards but peanuts in the Championsip) and was quickly made captain and scored the best part of 20 goals this season.
The first half of today's game at Wembley was a thriller. Michael Chopra put Cardiff ahead early on before Adam equalised with a superb free-kick - anyone know the last time a former Saint scored at England's national stadium? Joe Ledley restored Cardiff's advantage but again Blackpool responded quickly, this time Gary Taylor-Fletcher getting the goal. Right on half time, the legendary Brett Ormerod - think their equivalent of Hugh Murray - put Blackpool into a lead they were never to lose.
Conrgatulations to Charlie on this tremendous achievement and it's also worth noting Blackpool have another former Saint on their books in the form of Stephen McPhee. However, the striker - who played for Saints in 2001 - hasn't kicked a ball for the best part of 18 months.
More importantly, Blackpool also bring Ian Holloway to the Premiership - a manager whose post-match interviews are usually rather amusing.
