Saints were linked with a loan move for the former Rangers youngster in this morning's papers, but the 22-year-old has signed for us permanently after being allowed to leave Pittodrie despite being contracted until 2016. His contract with is runs until the end of next season.
Wylde started his career at Ibrox but opted to take redundancy after the club went into administration in 2012. He then moved to Bolton and had a loan spell at Bury before moving to Aberdeen in the summer. However, with first team chances at a premium, he has decided to leave and try his luck with Saints.
Wylde, who has been capped for Scotland at youth level, will give us some much needed width and pace on the left side of midfield and should allow John McGinn to play in a more central role.
This is our second signing of the January transfer window after Adam Campbell moved on loan from Newcastle and it may not be the last. One of this morning's papers suggested we were after Ryan Stevenson from Hearts, while former Dundee United defender Garry Kenneth - who is available for free after being released by Bristol Rothers - is another name being thrown about.
