Irish bookmakers Paddy Power currently offer Leeds United at 10,000-1 to win the English Premiership this season. They currently sit proudly bottom of the league, and sacked manager Peter Reid after being thrashed 6-1 by Portsmouth at the weekend. They are now after a new manager and, if the Paddy Power page is to be believed, they have a few interesting candidates after the job.
At 5,000-1 is host of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" Chris Tarrant. No doubt Leeds hope Tarrant will bring some much needed cash with him. He'll also tighten up the defence, as he can shout "But we don't wanna give you that" when it looks like Roque Junior is yet again about to pick out an opposition player with expert precision.
Another, more likely, successor to Reid is Radio 1 DJ and Leeds United fan Chris Moyles. Moyles announced on Monday he'd be going for the job when it looked like Reid was on his way, and is availible at just 500-1. A bargain!
So who would be in the running for the Saints job when John Coughlin is finally given the boot? Saints/Rangers fan and BBC pundit Chic Young must surely be in with a chance of the job, whilst BBc colleague and former Deacon Blue drummer Dougie Vipond would also be in with a shout, however he'd no doubt keep making mistakes.
However, the smart money has to be on the "dream team" of actor Dougie Henshall and author Christopher Brookmyre. Both are Saints fans from Barrhead, and Henshall has apparently been lined up to appear in a film version of one of Brookmyre's books. Definitely worth a bet.
