The rumours could come from anywhere - the papers, the radio or the internet. Most probably they'll have appeared in the rumour section of Black and White Army!
As this is the first issue since January, I'll include all the rumours that didn't turn out to be true from then.

Charlie Adam: Could be loaned to us to improve his fitness.
David Bingham: Absolutely no chance (unless it's as a coach)!
Stevie Crawford: Is available after leaving Dunfermline but unlikely to end up at Love Street.
Paul Dalglish: Has been released by Kilmarnock where he was a striker, but his preferred position is on the right wing and we desperately need a new player there.
Paul Dixon: Left-back who is leaving Dundee, with Saints among a number of clubs supposedly interested in him.
Alan Gow: Suggestions he could come to us as part of a deal for Andy Dorman.
Paul McGowan: Young Celtic player who did well on loan at Morton. Might be decent on the right wing for us - but Celtic want a fair bit of money for him.
Scott McLaughlin: Former Morton player who is nowhere near good enough for us.
Kenny Milne: Falkirk left-back who apparently wants to leave Westfield. A few clubs, including Saints, are supposedly interested.
Milan Palenik: Did well for Dundee last season before leaving them in the summer. Would do just the job in defence.
Matt Somner: One rumour even suggests this guy has signed, although it's probably nonsense. Plays with Notts County in League Two - don't ask me anything else!
Steven Thompson: It's a transfer window, which means it must be time for the bi-annual Steven Thompson rumour. Still, things are improving - no sign of the Robbie Winters or Charlie Miller rumours yet!
Tony Vidmar: Former Rangers player now playing in his homeland of Australia. Supposed to be interested in coming back to Britain - would we want him?

Andy Dorman: He's not been here for very long but he's already being linked with other clubs. Rangers, Bolton and Plymouth are just some of the clubs supposedly interested in him - understandable when you consider his performances for us over the last few months.
Franco Miranda: Technically not our player and supposed to be coming back to us, but he has also been linked with Hibs.
Hugh Murray: Rumours that he could be the latest player to leave us and head for Dundee refuse to go away.
CONFIRMED
Richard Brittain: OK, he was linked with a January departure, but he's still left!
Craig Molloy: Rumoured in January he'd be loaned out to gain fitness - which is what happened as he went to Stirling Albion for a month.
David van Zanten: Like Brittain, rumoured to be leaving in January but he has now definitely gone.
NOT HAPPENING
Lee Bullen: Always linked with us, he's now signed for Falkirk.
Mark Docherty: Could have been loaned out again but it didn't happen.
Mark Howard: Rumours he could go to Hibs turned out to be false.
Simon Lappin: Was offered the chance to come back to us but decided to sign for Motherwell.
Steven Lennon: Talk of a loan deal, but it never happened.
Rory Loy: Ditto.
Bob Malcolm: Thankfully he chose Motherwell!
Brian McLean: Supposedly close to signing for us in January, but Motherwell boss Mark McGhee pulled the plug on it.
Mark Miller: Random Celtic youngster - didn't sign.
Jim O'Brien: Went on loan to Dundee United instead, who now want him permanently.
Richard Offiong: Didn't leave Hamilton for us and is now being linked with big money moves to England.
Kon Tsacos: For once talk that someone on trial wouldn't be signing for us turned out to be true.
