Nearly every Ayr signing this summer, with just a few exceptions, was playing in the junior ranks last season. They have brought in a few folk with league experienced, such as Mark McGeown and Jerome Varielle from Airdrie, but on the whole their signings have been junior players. Unsurprisingly, their manager used to manage in the juniors and therefore knows his way around the scene. Fair enough. Former Saint Barry McLaughlin will lineup in the heart of the Ayr defence, but sadly Ludovic Roy won't be there to take some banter as he moved to SPL side Livingston a few months ago.
Tonight's Saints strikeforce could be interesting. Former Ayr man Stewart Kean will start, but who is alongside him is a mystery. Armand One and Chris Hay are no longer on trial, whilst Brian McGinty is injured. That leaves John Baird and a youth player such as David McKenna. Mark Corcoran may play up front but that's a long shot, as is Mixu Paatelainen being fit enough to play. Kirk Broadfoot being moved up front is a possibility, but my favourite option is that there will be a trialist playing that we haven't heard of. Or even a new signing.
Away from the striking department Saints have just one injury problem, with Ryan McCay missing after undergoing surgery recently. Apart from that we've everyone to choose from so hopefully we can get another win under our belts (not that results are important at this stage).
