Brechin City v Saints Preview

St. Johnstone, Dunfermline, Forfar and East Fife have all been at least a league below us when they've put us out of various cups in the past few years. Extending that record is quite simply not an opotion. Neither is a draw - as that will mean another game at Love Street.

Not much has changed since I wrote the preview for the game on Saturday. Craig Dargo and Billy Mehmet are still suspended, something that has frustrated manager Gus MacPherson. Will Haining and Stephen O'Donnell are still injured, while David Barron and Tonet aren't fit enough. Steven Robb could return while recent signing Steven Thomson could be handed his Saints debut.

The extra few days has given new Brechin boss Jim Duffy a chance to familiarise himself with his squad. A few fans believe Saturday's game was called off deliberately to allow him to get to know the players, but that's probably a bit far fetched. However, Brechin should still benefit from new manager syndrome, where clubs suddenly improve when they've got a new boss. Former Buddie John Baird will be hoping that is the case as he bids to score his first City goal.

Hopefully that won't happen - tonight is the night to end our horrendous run against lower league clubs.
