The game was in doubt last night due to frost and snow, however there has been a thaw overnight and the main problem now is the pitch becoming waterlogged. However, it looks as if the game is no longer in doubt and will go ahead. Good stuff.
Brechin go into this game on a high, having actually managed to win a game on Monday. Their first win of the season came over Clyde, despite the fact they were reduced to ten men with twenty minutes left!
Brechin are guaranteed at least one goal today as they have every Saints fan's nemisis Paul Ritchie in their side. The striker was on trial at Love Street over four years ago, but Tom Hendrie decided not to sign him as he wasn't the sort of striker the club were after. He then went on to score a shedload of goals in the next few seasons, including a couple of hattricks against us. He's already scored against us at Glebe Park this season and could well do so again.
Saints have been handed some good news over the past few days, with Charlie Adam extending his loan deal until the end of the season and John Sutton having his red card against Queen of the South on Monday rescinded. Both players are set to start today, as is Kirk Broadfoot who returns from suspension. Saints desperately need to get back amongst the goals as they have gone without scoring in the last three games, although incredibly their lead at the top of the table is still seven points! Craig Hinchcliffe and Brian McGinty are the only definite absentees.
Saints are top, Brechin are bottom. Saints haven't lost at home in the league in 2005, whilst Brechin have just one league win this season. So, a 1-0 win for Brechin then!
