The game was moved because Dundee were in action across the road this afternoon. Fair enough, except the exact same thing happened to us last season, so why should we have to suffer again? It seems a bit unfair, though is certainly no excuse if we lose.
Anyway, it's meant we've had to wait slightly longer to try to erase memories of that terrible week that saw us humbled by East Fife and thrashed by Celtic. Today's results make pleasant reading, however, as it was Inverness Caley Thistle's turn to be hammered by Celtic. They're still on zero points, which is excellent news, and whatever happens tomorrow we'll be eighth at worst and seven points off the drop zone.
Despite some of the poor results, we're only a point worse off than we were after five games last season. However, we could do with getting a few more in the bag now for when Craig Brewster gets Caley Thistle sorted out. A win tomorrow would be very handy, and it will be interesting to see what changes there will be to the side after the two defeats and the friendly win over Derby County. Chris Birchall must be in line for his first start, while it would be nice to see a return to two up front - even if one were to be Mark Corcoran. Hugh Murray may be on the injury list after struggling through his testimonial, while Craig Molloy, Eddie Malone, Craig Dargo and Ian Maxwell are all still absent. Trialist Karim Kerkar is believed to have been offered a contract, but even if he signs he won't be handed his debut against one of his former clubs.
One man's presence on the pitch tomorrow will spell defeat for Saints. Barry Robson. A third of the midfielder's tally of 12 goals came against Saints last season and the only time we won was when he didn't play. He is easily United's best player - though they have some other decent ones like Noel Hunt and the Polish goalkeeper with the very big name. However, Robson is the key man. He deserved his recent Scotland cap and you can put your house on him scoring tomorrow.
Sadly, I don't think he'll be the only United player scoring tomorrow and I think they'll win this one quite comfortably. Whatever the score, we probably won't get a goal again,
