If St. Mirren can avoid defeat tomorrow we'll have managed a whole year without St. Johnstone beating us. We beat them at Love Street in August, when they had three sent off, and we beat them 3-1 at the end of last season when Brian McGinty scored a hat trick. How bad must you be to concede a goal to McGinty, let alone three? We also drew with them in the first few months of the year, so it would be nice to be unbeaten by them in the whole calendar year.
For the first time since January, the Real Saints go into a game on the back of a home league defeat. It's also off the back of two league defeats in a row, so we'll need to show some good bouncebackability tomorrow. New signing Stewart Kean will almost definitely start, although I'm not sure who he'll replace in the starting lineup. Kevin McGowne and Hugh Murray are both doubtful, so there could be a first appearance of the season for Mark Dempsie. Mixu Paatelainen and Mark Reilly face up to the Fake Saints for the second time since leaving them in the summer, and will be hoping for a similar result to the last time.
The Fake Saints aren't doing well this season, considering they were pre season favourites for the league. They are well behind us, and miles behind Falkirk, so won't be going up this season. A pity, as they actually have a fully SPL compliant ground. Ex Saint Lee Hardy will be hoping to play, though his link is tedious as he only had one awful trial game against us.
The Real Saints need to get back to winning ways tomorrow. it would be good to get some more points on the road as well, so here's hoping for a win.
