The pars are the form team and we, well, aren't. They won their last game before the split and had won a few weeks before that as well. Saints haven't won since Boxing Day, and before that hadn't won since September. Until we played Hibs, we hadn't scored for nearly nine hours. Quite simply, things must change as Dunfermline look more than capable of pulling off the great escape.
On the plus side, the last win was against Monday night's opponents. On the down side, we played at the Falkirk Stadium a few weeks ago and were absolutely shocking thanks to some weird team selections from manager Gus MacPherson. it was a pity, as we'd never lost there until then and Dunfermline lost that day as well.
Saints have just one absentee for Monday's match, with midfielder Craig Molloy likely to be out for the rest of his season as his foot seems to have gone wrong again. Everyone else is fit and available, so it will be interesting to see what team we put out. Today's games could have a big bearing on that; if Dunfermline lose then we might go for a draw; if they win then we must go for a victory as well. Whatever happens, I hope we play with a back four as the back three there a few weeks ago was horrendously bad.
Falkirk are one of the four teams in the bottom half of the split simply playing for pride and the hope of finishing top of the mini league. They've started putting a few results together after a long winless run, which came about immediately after Anthony Stokes departure for Sunderland. With Allan Gow also set to leave for Rangers in the summer, manager John Hughes has a hard task ahead of him in the summer - although maybe Graham Barrett will be fit by then!
We need to win, but we won't. I reckon it'll be a repeat of the score from our last visit to Falkirk. 2-0 to the Bairns.
