Raith Rovers v Saints Previews

Just about every time a team are playing badly and they face us, they get a result. Likewise, when a striker is out of form, jut play against Saints and everything will be fine, you'll get a hat trick. Last season had a classic example of this. Brechin hadn't managed a point from their first few games, Saints visit Glebe Park and, thanks to John Coughlin we drop two points. In fact, last season I think we were the only first division side not to beat Brechin at all. But I digress.

Raith are, at present, awful. You don't score 22 points from the first two thirds of the season by being good. They are rock bottom, miles behind anyone else. It's all thanks to the genius of Claude Anelka, who thought it would be spiffing to own a football club, sign players he represents and put them in the shop window. So that's what he did. Except his players would probably be a disgrace to East Stirling's squad. Most of them are downright awful, and new manager Gordon Daziel (who came in after Claude went away in a sulk) has tried clearing as many of them out as he can. He has managed some improvement, six points and a win compared to Anelka's one. Last week saw some comedy though, with the Raith players fighting amongst themselves after Alloa had dumped them out of the cup!

All this disaster, combined with not even a draw in their last seven, means we'll lose. Still at least we'll be able to lose with a full strength squad. There are no injuries or suspensios to worry about, so the only change to last week's side will probably be goal scorer Allan Russell in for Brian McGinty.

Saints had a great result last week whilst Raith didn't. Saints might have been in poor form lately, but Raith are in awful form, which means they'll win. 1-0 to Raith.
