It's getting a bit boring repeatedly playing them and we've still got another two games to go, although the last one shouldn't be too bad as it's a cup final. Familiarity breeds contempt and by March 21 we'll probably be sick of the sight of each other. However, if we're relegated at the end of the season we'll spend most of next year dreaming for runs like this!
It's not just the opposition that's staying the same - we also have Iain Brines as the referee. He was in charge of the original tie, so I've not bothered with another "Know the Ref" article. To see the original, see: http://www.stmirren-mad.co.uk/roll/ed16/know_the_ref__rangers_home_491366/index.shtml
There's not much that can be written about these games that hasn't already been mentioned in the past few weeks. Admittedly, this is slightly different as it's away from home. As a result, we'll probably resort to one up front. The obvious choice would be to play Michael Higdon there as he's the man in form but his work rate, or lack of it, is likely to see him on the bench. That means Billy Mehmet will lead the line, not the worst thing in the world as he's rather good at scoring in the cups!
Other changes to the team that collapsed against Dundee United on Saturday could see Steven Robb miss out after he went off with cramp. The winger had easily his best performance for Saints at the weekend and will be missed, although Graham Carey is an able deputy. Chris Innes could return to the defence and don't be surprised to see Garry Brady get his usual recall from nowhere, which is what usually happens when we visit one of the Old Firm. Chris Smith and Tom Brighton are injured, but you knew that already!
To say Rangers are in good form would be an understatement. They've only lost one domestic game in their last 40 or 50 matches, an impressive run for any team in any country. That's seen them win the league, the Scottish Cup and reach the League Cup Final, which we know all too well about. It's a run built on a solid defence, thanks to the likes of Allan MacGregor, Davie Weir and Madjid Bougherra, and the goals of Kenny Miller and, in particular, Kris Boyd. Steven Davis is in fantastic form in the middle of the park at the moment, while Nacho Novo is a handy weapon to have on the bench.
It'll be a tough ask if we're to make the quarter-finals for the fifth time in six years. Rangers have lost just one Scottish Cup replay at Ibrox - and we've only beaten them once in the competition. However, we're pretty good when it comes to Sky games in the cup - and I was told many years ago that 2010 was the next time we'd win the Scottish Cup!
