The last time Airdrie came to Love Street there was some half time entertainment provided by the Saints support being annoyed that a few Airdrie guys had unveiled some Union Jacks. In response, the Airdrie fans are going to bring a variety of world flags tomorrow. I can hardly wait.
I don't particuarly like Airdrie after they bought Clydebank a few years ago and nicked their place in the league, so every win over them is enjoyable. It's also been a good laugh to get it up eejits like Owen Coyle and Mark Roberts, but sadly both of them have left. The best bet for abuse will be Brian McPhee, apart form that I can't really work up any hate for their players. Shame.
Airdrie are probably Brian McGinty's favourite club, considering that four of his mighty Saints haul of nineteen goals in the past four years have come against them or predecessors Airdrieonians. Fortunately for us he probably won't be playing tomorrow, and the first division's most potent strike force, Stewart Kean and John Sutton, will continue together up front.
Saints have a few injury problems, with Craig Hinchcliffe missing from the bench again and Ian Maxwell still injured. Hugh Murray and Kevin McGowne overcame knocks to play in the midweek win over Brechin and will hopefully be able to continue.
The weather is a bit dodgy at the moment and there is every chance this game could be called off due to a frozen pitch, so make sure to check the site tomorrow for updates!
A win tomorrow would set Saints up nicely for a very important run of games. Don't see it though as we are due a win. Airdrie to win 1-0.
