There's rarely a good time to play either half of the Old Firm - the game last December against Rangers perhaps being one of those times - but losing to East Fife a few days beforehand is hardly going to improve matters. Celtic may be tired after going to extra time on Wednesday, but they still have a hell of a lot more quality than us.
Another reason for not being confident is the distinct lack of decent players, particularly strikers, at Love Street. While most of the new signings over the summer have improved the squad, most of those who remain are quite simply not good enough, as proven by Tuesday night. The main problem is up front, but until Craig Dargo gets fit there isn't a lot we can do about things. At least with Franco Miranda and Chris Birchall whipping balls in we'll have a few more chances - hopefully they'll create one even Stewart Kean or Alex Burke can't miss!
Birchall will almost certainly start tomorrow - he can't do much worse than anyone else at right wing - and will hopefully get stuck into Celtic, firing off a few shots. Apart from Alex Burke being dropped, it would not surprise me if the rest of the side is the same as it was for Tuesday's disaster.
You're never going to be short of reasons to hate Celtic, but they kindly produced another one in January when they signed Paul Hartley. It's old ground with him - let's just say we don't like him and he doesn't particularly like us, but he usually scores or has a good game against us. However, his exit from Hearts was rather amusing, as was that of then and present team mate Steven Pressley.
Despite the fact they've won four trophies in two years, some Celtic fans still think Gordon Strachan is useless. No doubt they wanted him sacked for losing to AC Milan in the Champions League as well. Strachan has done an excellent job at Parkhead, clearing out a lot of the dead wood and ageing players that were there and bringing in some fresh talent. Scott Brown and a few other players nicked from sides in the SPL are just some of this summer's arrivals.
Celtic are streets ahead of us, and even if we'd won on Tuesday they'd still be favourites for a comfortable win. I reckon they'll stroll to another 5-0 victory - the same margin they beat Hearts by last week.
