Defeat is not an option tomorrow, however hopefully that will prevent Saints manager Gus MacPherson going for a draw against another of his old sides. We must win. We must get three points. It will end the long run without a victory, whilst could greatly damage Dunfermline's survival hopes.
If we are to win this match, one thing we must do is start with Mark Corcoran up front. He scored last week, which is more than most of our players (bar John Sutton) have managed in recent weeks. Plus, with Stewart Kean out and Billy Mehmet doubtful (and Brian McGinty also back on the treatement table), it comes down to a straight fight between Corcoran and Alex Burke for Sutton's partner. It's simple; Corcoran has scored this season, Burke hasn't. So start Burke.
Mehmet's injury means he won't start against his old team, a pity as most of our former players score against us - so it would be nice to inflict that on someone else for a change! John Potter has also played for the East End Park side and will be starting tomorrow (barring an injury no one has heard about). Richard Brittain should return (hopefully at the expense of Andy Millen) after creating Corcoran's goal last week. Corcoran and Brittain making the starting lineup will probably be the only changes for the match.
Dunfermline are fairly awful at the moment, despite hiring Irishman Stephen Kenny as their new manager. They managed a last minute win over Dundee United a month ago, but have failed to pick up a point a month ago. The fact the likes of Jim McIntyre, Mark Burchill (who is fit again) and Noel Whelan have spent most of their time in the physio's room won't have helped. Whilst we've also had problems with the fitness of our forwards, the difference is we didn't go and sign numerous injury prone hasbeens (not including Burchill) in the summer! Since their arrival, Whelan and McIntyre have managed six minutes between them. Sadly, Stevie Crawford is a bit good - and is fit. He's scored against us for both the Pars and Aberdeen this season and will cause us problems, especially if he partners Burchill.
