My own personal opinion is that it won't be anywhere near good enough, and we'll struggle to stay in the division. The 3-5-2 formation looks set to stay, even though we are far more comfrotable with a 4-4-2. It looks like Andy Millen and Kevin McGowne will be playing reguarly; one is bad news, two is just suicidal. Last season we struggled to score goals, so to solve that we've got rid of a fans favourite and a player witrh pace, replacing them with an ageing Finn and a 5 year old from Clyde. When it's put like that, you can understand why I'm worried.
We have one absentee for tomorrow's match, Brian McGinty is suspended after his ludicrous red card in the Renfrewshire Cup final, a trophy which makes the league challenge cup look prestigious. Eddie Annand will probably take his place up front, although John Baird might start for his league debut. Mark Reilly and big Mixu (sod spelling his surname!) will also make their home debut's tomorrow.
Ricky Gillies will probably be pushed wide right again, which is an interesting idea as he clearly can't play there. David van Zanten just about can, and Simon Lappin almost gets by as a left wing back, but apart from that we don't really have anyone to play in this positions. However, we apparently have the players to play a 3-5-2 and not a 4-4-2!
As is usual before the start of a season, Falkirk will start as one of the favourites, despite still being managed by John Hughes and having ex Saint Scott MacKenzie playing for them. They have a new ground now, remember thats the 10,000 seater one which would be ready for March 2003. Of course, it doesn't even have half of that seating total! They have improved the squad over the summer, getting rid of Jason Lee and signing some decent strikers.
Falkirk have a good defence; we haven't. Falkirk have good strikers; we have one (two if Annand can actually hit a cow's arse with a banjo). Therefore I predict a 3-0 win for Falkirk.
