As I write this, large parts of the country (including the bit where I live) are being battered by wind and rain, so there could be some doubt over the match. However, it'll probably go ahead and provide us with a chance to pick up a much needed three points.
There is a chance we could go into our next home game on December 12 with the same points tally we've had since the draw with Motherwell at the end of October. Tomorrow's game isn't easy and then we are away to Celtic and Dundee United, two exceptionally tough fixtures and it would be no disgrace to lose them. However, knowing Saints we'll probably take something from these games - then screw it up against the smaller sides! Interestingly, many papers are talking about our good start to the season, failing to notice we have exactly the same number of points as we did at thisstage last year. The only difference is a few more teams are worse than us.
Anyway, let's be a bit more positive. The two weeks off to allow George Burley to earn himself the sack mean we'll be able to welcome back the likes of Stephen McGinn, Allan Johnston, Craig Dargo and Mo Camara - the latter not seen since a pre-season friendly against Wigan. The returns of McGinn and Dargo will be most welcome to the Saints support. We haven't looked the same up front without Dargo, while McGinn has been in outstanding form in midfield. Stephen only picked up his injury in our last game against Rangers so is likely to keep his place, while Dargo could be on the bench - giving us the rare luxury of seven subs.
Also coming back is Lee Mair, who was suspended for the trip to Ibrox. I'd like to see Chris Innes keep his place. I've not been too impressed with Mair - apart from his display against Dundee United - and he's looked worse than John Potter at times, which is saying something. A place on the bench might do him good. On the injury front, Chris Smith, Steven Robb and Tom Brighton are all still out. Chances are Mair will replace Innes and Michael Higdon will start in Garry Brady's place, with the rest of the team staying the same as the one that lost to Rangers.
Hibs are going great guns in the SPL at the moment and have a real chance of splitting the Old Firm, or maybe even winning the league. John Hughes has got them firing on all cylinders and I'll freely admit they've done far better than I expected under his stewardship. Things have been helped by Graham Stack replacing Yves Ma-Kalamity in goal, suggesting the common goalkeeping problems at Easter Road are finally at an end.
It's at the other end of the park where Hibs have been most impressive, with Hughes building on the reputation for attractive football he developed at Falkirk (although I don't remember it being that exciting). Steven Fletcher may have gone but Derek Riordan is just as good, with Colin Nish also handy. Hughes surprised many people when he managed to bring Anthony Stokes to Leith, the former Sunderland man having spent time with Yogi while at Falkirk. Perhaps being reunited with his former boss will mean he'll finally knuckle down and develop the talent he undoubtedly has.
Liam Miller has had a similarly nomadic career in recent years and was another surprise signing for Hibs, while Morrocan pair Merouane Zemmama and Benji are back at the club. Both are capable of scoring and providing goals, so with all those attacking players to watch out for the Saints defence will need to be in top form tomorrow.
