After securing their SPL status last week, there is now a chance that Saints can finish in tenth place - not bad for a team that's been written off all season. Not only would this provide comedy value at Motherwell's expense, it would also provide an extra £80,000 for the club. We're currently one point behind Motherwell, who are at Dundee United. Caley, meanwhile, will be looking to stop United stealing ninth place, so they too will have one ear on events at Tannadice - though not quite to the extent Saints fans were following Caley's progress last week!
Tomorrow afternoon could see the last appearance for quite a few players in Saints shirts. We already know Kirk Broadfoot and Kevin McGowne are on their way, and the suspension of fellow centre half John Potter makes it likely that both will start. There are also other players out of contract - such as Billy Mehmet and Alan Reid - who's future is still undecided, so tomorrow could potentially be their last game in the stripes.
If I was a betting man, I'd reckon it will also be our last chance to see John Sutton playing for the Buddies. The two goal hero from last week is out of contract and there is interest from clubs both north and south of the border. A new contract offer from Saints is on the table, but the longer that goes by with no news, the less chance there is of him signing it.
On the injury front, midfielders Craig Molloy and Stephen O'Donnell are still missing, while Richard Brittain will complete his suspension.
With nothing to worry about tomorrow, Saints fans will probably spend most of the match showering Ross Tokely with abuse. The right back is still hated at Love Street after ruining Chris Kerr's career nearly eight years ago. Sadly - like most players we boo - he seems to save his best performances for those against us! At least he didn't do an Alan Main or Paul Hartley last week!
Prediction? Who cares - we're safe, let's just enjoy it.
