That's not technically correct. After all, saying he's "back" suggests he was here in the first place, which isn't true - he's still to play his first game since signing in the summer. And Saints boss Gus MacPherson has only suggested Dargo may be on the bench - and even then he might not get on. But the news that the star striker could be on the bench tomorrow has helped lift some of the gloom and doom that the Saints fans were feeling. It's the best possible early Christmas present we could have had.
Of course, even if he's in the squad, there's no way Dargo will start the game. There will, however, need to be changes after the last few home games though. Hugh Murray is suspended and will need to be replaced - hopefully with a striker as we switch to two up front instead of the lone target man. A change of tactics where we cause the opposition problems, rather than set out to counter their threat, would be nice.
Another possibility is a change of goalkeeper. While he did well in the draw at Parkhead, keeper Chris Smith is coming in for more and more stick from some fans due to the number of goals we're conceding. It's a fair point, and it is maybe time to give Mark Howard a try. However, Smith isn't the only one at fault - the rest of the defence can just as easily be blamed for their terrible marking and apparent unwillingness to tackle players, opting instead to let them wander past. A change in personnel or attitude would be nice to see for Saturday.
The match against Killie is a fantastic opportunity to improve our terrible home record considering they have struggled with injuries all season and are just a few points ahead of us. No wins in their last few games should ensure we help them end their run tomorrow! Colin Nish will pose a threat as always, while the likes of David Fernandez and Willie Gibson could have fun with our terrible defending.
So, will we right the wrongs, score some goals and actually get some points at home? Er, no. Killie to win 2-0.
