Of course, that's not to say Saints will avoid defeat tomorrow themselves, but they shouldn't find the gap to the Pars any less than nine points come tomorrow evening. Dunfermline have struggled for goals in the league, whilst Celtic are awsome at home. If Dunfermline take anything, it will be a major blow - especially ahead of our trip to Fife next week. And let's remember, around this time five years ago Dundee United went to Ibrox and emerged with three points.
Hopefully Saints will concentrate on doing their own job tomorrow and not worry about other results. The last win and golas at home came on Boxing Day, and it's about time something was done about that abysmal record. John Sutton has only scored once this year, but it's one more goal than any other striker has managed in 2007, so quite who to put up front is anyone's guess. Stephen O'Donnell seems to have adapted to the SPL well, having scored against Hearts, and offers something most of our other midfielders don't - a goal threat.
On the plus side, we have avoided defeat in the past two games, and only conceded one goal along the way. It's surely no coincidence this has happened since Kevin McGowne and Andy Millen were dropped. Eddie Malone's defensive qualities on the left side have also proven rather useful, so hopefully the defence can work well again tomorrow.
Back in September, Kilmarnock played a fantastic style of football at Love Street and somehow only managed to score once, despite being camped in the Saints half for most of the game. With a League Cup final to look forward to in the next few weeks, all their players will be looking to impress to safeguard their place in the team. Steven Naismith is always a threat, whilst the interestingly named Danny Invincible can also be dangerous on his day.
Prediction? A repeat of Kilmarnock's last visit to Love Street - 1-0 to the away team.
