With Saints set to move into a new ground this time next year it is also possible it will be the last Renfrewshire derby at Love Street, unless Morton somehow manage to get far enough in one of the cup competitions to be paired against us.
Saints are the current holders of the trophy, having beaten Morton in the final last season thanks to goals from Stewart Kean and Brian McGinty. Personally I have no time for what is effectively a glorified pre-season friendly and I'm not too fussed if we win or lose, but other folk are - which is fair enough. Saints boss Gus MacPherson seems to be of the former opinion, which is why he'll probably treat tomorrow's game as a friendly rather than a cup final.
Saints have several injury problems for tomorrow, with MacPherson claiming we could be without as many as six or seven players. Eddie Malone, Ian Maxwell and Craig Molloy are all out, while there are doubts over the fitness of Richard Brittain, Mark Corcoran and Stephen McGinn. The season hasn't even started and we're already the walking wounded!
There seems to be a bit of confusion over whether or not trialists can play tomorrow, but if they are it is likely Saints will have just the one - Israeli trialist Roy Dayan. The striker was a surprise absentee from the team that beat Dumbarton on Thursday night, and tomorrow is likely to be make or break for him. Play well and he'll be signed; play badly and he won't. Reports suggest he's a decent player so hopefully he'll do well.
After years of failure and dodgy betting rings, Morton have finally made it back to the first division. However, no one seems to have told their manager - he's signed the grand total of two players for the step up! Perhaps he should spend more time chasing realistic targets than making pathetic bids for the likes of John Sutton...
