Partick are on a good run of form at the moment. Well, it's all relative, when I say that I actually mean they won their last match. Mind you, it was against Falkirk, whose only other defeat was to us on the opening day of the season, so they might have turned the corner. Of course, their last victory came with their last game before they met us at Firhill, and we gubbed them 3-0. Same again please.
Pigeon fancier John Lambie is back for yet another spell in charge of the media favourites. Lambie was thawed out after the two Gerry's, Britton and Whyte, were kicked out for being not very good. Lambie opened up with a defeat at Dingwall before that impressive victory over Falkirk. Tomorrow is meant to be Lambie's last game in charge as caretaker, and he has stressed many times that he does not wish to take the job permanently.
There have been many players who have played for Saints and Thistle in recent years, such as Alex Burns, Tommy Turner and Stephen Watson. Sadly the links are slim at best now. Partick released Ian Ross last week, whilst the best we can do is Kevin McGowne, who had a few months with Thistle a few years ago. Don't think there is anyone else.
Saints only have one player out tomorrow. With tonight being Hogmany and the annual dose of football impression program Only An Excuse?, Mark Dempsie has once again performed his impression of former Saint Paul McKnight. Dempsie has made just one first team appearance this season, and will be missing tomorrow with a virus. Of course, the fact he has been linked with a move to Ayr United is nothing to do with that. McGowne is now fit so will replace him in defence, whilst it can be assumed that Hugh Murray and Laurie Ellis are now fit again and will be in the side.
Saints finished 2004 in terrible style, losing their last four matches. We could do with getting 2005 off to a good start, but sadly I think Partick will sneak it 1-0.
