It seems every summer we're making the trip to Stirling, last year drawing 2-2 after finding ourselves a couple of goals down.
It's quite some time since we met in the league (although we did meet in a cup in 2001) and when we did, it is a day everyone who was there will never forget thanks to Hugh Murray. The midfielder - at that point just a youngster - scored a superb goal that kept Saints up and in business, while sending Stirling down in the process. The new season will be Stirling's first back in division one since then, so it's clearly taken them a while to recover.
Saints fans who attend tonight's match will be hoping to see a glimpse of new signings Will Haining, Mark Howard, Craig Dargo and Gary Mason for the first time, along with possibly a few trialists (although don't hold your breath). One player definitely missing will be Craig Molloy, who will be missing for another few months with a foot injury.
Stirling have made some new signings as well, and two of them are former Saints - David McKenna and Laurie Ellis. They'll both be looking to put in a good performance, especially McKenna, who was only released by Saints a few months ago.
