There was once again a shortage of first team players, with Will Haining, Hugh Murray and Jim Hamilton the only starters who have been regular first teamers this season, although David Barron has often been on the bench. The rest of the side, with the exception of Andy Millen and Paul Mathers, were youngsters.
Hibs went in front just before the break through Jack Wilson, but Quinn appeared to have earned Saints a point when he scored with a quarter of an hour to go. However, with a couple of minutes to go the unfortunate Kyle Faulds popped the ball into his own net.
There was still a chance for Saints to grab a draw when they were awarded a penalty after someone handballed in the Hibs box, but Millen's effort was saved. Quite why he was taking it rather than one of our first teamrs - or one of the youngsters for the experience - is a mystery.
