The Bairns have a pretty handy youth set-up these days, with many teenagers in the first team and others sold for relatively high fees.
The first 90 minutes were goalless and there were none in extra time either, Saints not helping themselves by having Jason Naismith sent off. The two sides were so evenly matched that the shootout required sudden death, Mark Williams scoring the decisive kick to set up a last eight clash with Dundee United.
