The two dismissals took place in games up north. One was in a 1-1 draw at Aberdeen, where David Barron picked up a silly second booking. The other was in a 1-0 defeat at Inverness Caley Thistle. Will Haining picked up two bookings - the first for kicking the ball away when he was actually booting it to the corner flag for a set piece to be taken. He got his revenge in another game Mr Allan refereed, scoring a last minute winner against Kilmarnock in May.
The only other game of ours Mr Allan has taken charge of was in the early part of 2003/04 when he refereed a game at Love Street against St. Johnstone. Strangely, for a battle of the Saints, there were no red cards and just three bookings.
Mr Allan took charge of his first SPL match in 2006/07 and has gradually increased his tally in the last few years. Oddly, he hasn't refereed a Saints game this season - and has never been in charge of one involving one half of the Old Firm! It'll be interesting to see if he succumbs to the usual pressure and favours the big team. His current tally of four red cards from 19 games isn't too bad - but we all know what refs are like against Celtic.
