If his last visit to Love Street is anything to go by, we have nothing to worry about. A few months ago, Mr Collum was the man in charge when Steven McGinn struck that glorious winner against Rangers and, despite adding on far too much stoppage time (a requirement when the Old Firm side is losing) he performed well. This is promising, as is the fact the last time we won at home he was in charge. His only other game involving us this season was a narrow home defeat to Aberdeen in August. In that game he booked Lee Miller for diving. Sounds promising!
The results when he was involved last season weren't too bad either. A goalless draw with Gretna (OK, that's bad!), a draw with Hearts and a win over Inverness Caley Thistle were the outcomes when he was in charge. He issued few cards and the Caley Thistle game was our first win of the season.
Going by Soccerbase (which is probably wrong!) the only other games of ours he has refereed were a draw at Falkirk and a home defeat to Kilmarnock, both in 2006/07. Again, he was relatively lenient with the cards.
This season has seen him take charge of one Celtic game, an easy win over Livingston in the League Cup. He managed to get through that game without showing a single card, which is good going. Last season saw his only other Celtic game to date, a home win over Caley Thistle with just two cautions dished out.
It would seem, then, that Mr Collum is a relatively lenient official who prefers to let the game flow or have a few quiet words than dish some red cards. As we found out the last time, he's not as willing as other officials to favour the Old Firm. Hopefully, that will continue on Saturday.
