The game in question was at Motherwell back in September when we lost 2-1. Franco Miranda was sent off and some folk are still not quite sure what it was for.
Mr Conroy only took charge of one of our games last season - a hammering at Pittodrie. Fortunately, things are better if you go back to the previous season - he was in charge when we ended a long winless run by beating Falkirk at Love Street on Boxing Day.
During the championship winning season of 05/06 he was in charge of four games. One saw him awarding a penalty against Clyde that their fans thought was a dive - but then they thought every time one of our players hit the deck it was a dive. One was on the opening day of the season when we sneaked past Forfar in extra time. The other matches were against Queen of the South. We won one comfortably at Love Street but the other game, at Palmerston on Boxing Day, finished goalless, with a player sent off from each side. Saints later appealed John Sutton's dismissal and had it overturned.
Going back to 2004/05 sees Mr Conroy involved in two of our games. Both were against Airdrie United and saw a Love Street draw and a Shyberry win. Offhand I can't think of anything controversial. The previous season he was in charge three times - defeats to St Johnstone and Clyde and a fine win over Queens. The only incident of note was in the Clyde game, when he deemed we should retake a penalty because the keeper moved - despite us scoring the rebound! He also booked John O'neill for his celebration in the Queens game. Spoilsport.
The only other game Soccerbase claims Mr Conroy was involved in was just under six years ago and saw Caley Thistle come to Love Street. We lost 4-1 and the less said about it the better.
In the last 18 months Mr Conroy has only been in charge of one Caley Thistle game - a 3-0 defeat to Hibs at Easter Road. He sent off a player from each side, although Hibs were already three up when Phil McGuire was dismissed for the visitors. In 2006/07 he was in charge of two away games, a draw against Dundee United and a defeat to Hearts.
Soccerbase suggests Mr Conroy is reasonably lenient - he hasn't been card happy this season and has only dismissed two players. One was Miranda - the other was Hamilton defender Martin Canning a few weeks ago when Celtic played Accies. While the decision was probably right, the referee awarded a penalty - but the foul was committed outside the box. If he could do that on Saturday during a Saints attack it would be most welcome!
