Twice last season with this official Dargo found himself being clobbered by keepers - Celtic's Artur Boruc and Kilmarnock's Allan Combe. Despite giving a foul each time, Mr Collum decided against sending off the goalies for their assault and only showed a yellow card. Utter madness. The matches ended with a Celtic win and a draw in our first game at the new ground.
The other games with Mr Collum last season saw us lose at home to Aberdeen and away to Inverness Caley Thistle. There is also the small matter of a home win to Rangers, where the official turned down a number of dodgy penalty claims by the visitors. Maybe he isn't so bad!
He only did three of our games in 2007/08 and the 2-1 home win over Caley Thistle were our first goals and points of the season. There were also home draws with Hearts and Gretna. Our first season back in the SPL saw two encounters with Mr Collum, a draw at Falkirk and a home defeat to Kilmarnock.
This official did three Motherwell games last season, two of which were defeats at Falkirk. Michael Higdon scored in one so perhaps he can manage that on Tuesday. Falkirk did also have a man sent off in one of those game,s with Motherwell scoring the penalty. Their other game with Mr Collum was a cup win at Inverurie Loco Works.
It's a similar story in 2007/08 - a cup win over Raith Rovers but a league defeat to Hibs in which Ian Murray was sent off. Mr Collum's first games with Motherwell were in 2006/07 and were a hammering by Caley Thistle and a high scoring draw with Falkirk.
So, with this official Motherwell are poor in the league but good in the cups. Not the best omen - but at least Dargo won't be getting poleaxed this time.
