Although a win would have been nice, especially with Dunfermline just behind us in the league, a draw was a pretty good afternoon's work. When you consider we had Tommy Turner sent off and were up against it for most of the afternoon, it was an excellent day all round.
Ludovic Roy was in outstanding form all day long, but was finally beaten a minute before half time when Stewart Petrie collected the ball in midfield before charging forward and lashing a shot past the Frenchman.
Turner was sent off in the second half for a last man challenge on Lee Bullen, although it's debatable whether it prevented a goal scoring opportunity, which is how things should have been decided. With their man advantage, Dunfermline tried to make the game safe, Bullen and David Moss going close.
But the spirit of this Saints side was superb and with 10 minutes to go they conjured up an unlikely equaliser. Iain Nicolson had been providing fantastic crosses all season long but this time got on the end of one from Gary Bowman to head home the leveller, with the help of some defender called John Potter. Ludo was still needed to keep out a few chances, but we'd done enough for a point.
We'd once again shown we didn't know when we were beaten, but we'd show that even more forcefully in seven days time when we met Raith Rovers at Stark's Park...
