We may have won our last game against Airdrie but the three games before that had provided just a couple of points as we drew with Morton and Caley Thistle and drew with Ayr. We were beginning to wobble and the absence of Ludovic Roy wasn't helping matters. Sadly, he was still out for this one, meaning we still had Derek Scrimgour in goals.
Last time we'd gone to Falkirk we lost an early goal and the same happened on this visit. After just six minutes. David Hagen skinned the defence before crossing for Andrew Lawrie, who returned the favour - only for Hagen to hit the woodwork. Unfortunately, the rebound fell kindly for John Henry and he hammered home the opener.
Saints created little after going behind and it was no surprise when the Bairns scored again in the second half, Kevin Christie pouncing to double the lead after the defence failed to clear a corner. There were a few Saints chances late on but by then it was a case of too little, too late.
Unbelievable, this was the first league game of the season in which we'd failed to score - changed days! The result meant just eight points covered the top five teams ahead of the break for the Scottish Cup, with Saints taking on Aberdeen. As this feature is ignoring cup games, I can tell you we drew the first game 1-1 before losing the replay at Pittodrie on the night Super Caley went ballistic while Celtic were atrocious.
