Airdrie United 0-1 Saints

From talking to folk and reading the web it seems to have been a fairly poor Saints performance, but it is often said that the sign of a good team is one that can win when playing poorly.

The only goal came in the first half, Adam being fouled and promptly firing the resulting freekick past the Airdrie goalkeeper. It seemed to be from quite a distance and was hit brilliantly.

That was it on the goalscoring front, though it seems that Airdrie dominated for the rest of the game. They had a goal disallowed and then, with five minutes left, were awarded a penalty. Saints keeper Chris Smith saved the initial kick, and the rebound, and the rebound after that!

There was still some late drama when Simon Lappin and David Dunn were sent off, the Saints man for kicking his Airdrie counterpart after a tackle of some such. Lappin deserved to go, whether Dunn did I don't know, especially as the referee was looking the other way!

In the end, Airdrie seemed unlucky not to take at least a point and Sandy Stewart seems a bit annoyed that John Potter wasn't sent off for a tackle on Bryan Prunty. It was a foul and a booking, no more.

Bring on the Morton!
