We were outclassed, outplayed and outbattled. From the online feed I used to watch the game, we didn't manage a single shot on goal and failed to manage a shot on target. Time to panic? Well, no - we were playing at one of the Old Firm who were out for revenge and were missing a number of players. It's a heavy defeat, the lack of fight was a bit worrying, but it's certainly not panic time.
The injury problems saw Craig Dargo deployed as a lone striker and Lee Mair and Garry Brady come into the side, with Gareth Wardlaw, Steven Thomson and Paul McGowan dropping out. There was a Gus MacPherson-esque six subs, but five of them were youngsters. The under-19s were also struggling for numbers this week so we can't really argue on this occasion.
Things started going wrong after just five minutes when Joe Ledley almost breezed through the defence. Beram Kayal smacked the bar and before the ball was properly cleared a shot from Shaun Maloney went in off at least one Saints player.
David van Zanten was hooked at half time with Marc McAusland replacing him and we seemed to have stemmed the tide but poor play allowed James Forrest to crash home the third and sub Ki Sung-Yeung to crack home the fourth.
The only positives are that we don't seem to have picked up any more injuries and youngsters Graeme Ramage and Jamie McKernon got their debuts. The rest is pretty forgettable.
Let's just hope it's a one off, the sort of thing you expect against the Old Firm, and we can pick things up for Wednesday's game at Ross County.
