The performance doesn't matter, neither do the scorers, what matters is we won, we're the champions, and we're going up. We weren't great today, but who cares? We can't be caught and it's time to enjoy ourselves.
Saints opened the scoring after about twenty minutes or so, Kirk Broadfoot scrambling home a corner after his free kick had been saved just before. At this stage things were looking good, with St. Johnstone losing 2-0 at Palmerston!
Sadly, things went a little wrong later. St. Johnstone were drawing, whilst Tony Bullock made a mess of a free kick and provided Steven Craig with a tap in. Ah.
Bullock was later replaced with Chris Smith, whilst Billy Mehmet came on. With less than ten minutes to go (kick off was delayed due to a massive Saints support) it didn't matter what happened as St. Johnstone had lost. The winning goal was scored by Kevin James at the wrong end, cheers mate!
However, it's not much fun winning the league with a draw, so with four minutes left Mehmet got on to the end of a flick on that may have come from a Dundee player and rammed the ball home. The Roadrunner had finally broken his duck, and what a time to do it!
After that it was party time, although it'll be another fortnight until we get that big shiny trophy thing. Then it's time to celebrate all over again.
The day we were relegated from the SPL five years ago we won 2-1, whilst ten man St. Johnstone lost 3-2. Hmmm....
