Manager Gus MacPherson made one change to the side that beat Hamilton Accies last week, bringing Scott Cuthbert back at the expense of Steven Robb. Considering how well the winger has been playing recently it was a surprising change - although he could well be injured again.
This was United's first match since the death of their chairman Eddie Thompson. I wasn't at the game but it seems from reading the BBC website United had more chances, with the likes of Darren Dods, Scott Robertson and Craig Conway. Saints' best chances surprisingly fell to Hugh Murray, who went close with efforts in each half.
The game looked to be heading for a draw when, with five minutes left, Roy O'Donovan holding off challenges from two Saints defenders before chipping keeper Mark Howard with a deflection.
To make things worse, in the final minute Conway was allowed to run around 50 yards before smashing a shot past Howard to seal the points.
Not a good day, and with Falkirk winning it means we're just two points clear of the bottom side, which is now Hamilton.
On the plus side, we have four home games coming up in November. Hopefully, we'll be able to get some wins on the board as Love Street enters its final few months.
