Don't get me wrong, a trip to Tannadice is a hard test these days. However, to score two goals away from home against a team that played for half an hour with 10 men should be enough to ensure at least a point. That it didn't points to problems at the other end of the park.
Thanks to the glass bones of Craig Dargo and Allan Johnston, Michael Higdon was the man chosen to replace Andy Dorman with Garry Brady keeping his place in midfield. We started well, Hugh Murray going close before Higdon had a goal ruled out for offside. Higdon missed another chance before it all started going wrong.
After half an hour, United opened the scoring, Damian Casalinuovo finishing well. Just a minute before the break, Craig Conway scored from a free-kick to effectively kill us off.
Fortunately, United are also quite handy at shooting themselves in the foot and with half an hour left Morgaro Gomis got himself sent off for slapping someone, the big girl. From the resulting free-kick Darren Dods headed into his own goal to give us a lifeline.
Sadly, Jennison Myrie-Williams restored United's two goal advantage with around 13 minutes but Stephen O'Donnell made things interesting in the last five minute. Why O'Donnell didn't start is a mystery, but that's for another day. Unfortunately, we couldn't grab a point and once again had to make do with nothing.
The league table hasn't changed a great deal today, but next week's home game against Falkirk is absolutely must win.
