The Pars haven't won at home all season and that, combined with new manager Jim Jefferies arriving this week, had me convinced they'd finally break that duck. That they didn't is a positive - but after enjoying a lead at the break we should really have been looking to kick on, kill the game off and pretty much secure our SPL status. Instead we conceded a goal inside the first minute of the second half.
No surprise to see Paul McGowan and Dougie Imrie both starting but Steven Thomson and Hugh Murray were the men dropping out as Gary Teale kept his place. That looked a good move seven minutes from the interval when his corner was nodded in by Steven Thompson, taking the big striker's tally for the season into double figures.
But while we held that advantage until the break, it was gone 37 seconds into the second half as Joe Cardle scored. The Saints defence had seemingly stopped waiting on a penalty being awarded but the ref played advantage. Perhaps he could have a word with his colleague from Wednesday night.
After that it was anyone's game, Cardle and former Buddie Gary Mason going close for the pars and Graham Carey and McGowan almost snatching a Saints winner.
Far from a brilliant result - although at least we got a goal and didn't lose - and our form this year continues to be a worry. On the plus side we're still 12 points clear of Dunfermline who now have just seven games left to close it in, while Hibs are continuing to struggle and are now just three points off the bottom.
