Results aren't important - especially when you remember our players probably had at least one training session today - but it's always nice to get a win under our belts at this stage of things.
The Saints defence was as expected, with the returning Tom Brighton joining Andy Dorman, Steve Thomson and Stephen McGinn in midfield. New signing Michael Higdon partnered Mehmet up front.
Mehmet got the first after 20 minutes and Mair added the second with 20 minutes to go. I'm not sure, but the fact a defender scored suggests we might have managed a goal from a corner for once! East Fife set up an interesting finished when Mark Staunton pulled one back, but it was too little, too late.
It seems two trialists played in the second half - one in defence and one on the right wing. Early indications suggest both are worth another look so it'll be interesting to see if they feature against Dumbarton on Thursday.
