Before today, late goals had cost us 10 points in the league this season - well, you can now make that 12. An injury time winner from Flavio Paixao gave Hamilton their second league win of the year, leapfrogging them above us in the table. The only saving grace is bottom club Falkirk also lost, so there's still a four point gap to Steven Pressley's side. But then, they have a game in hand.
The amount of late goals we're conceding is beyond a joke, as is the chances we're squandering. Andy Dorman once again messed one up today and when the rebound fell kindly for Craig Dargo, he thumped it off the bar. Graham Carey also hit the woodwork, while Mickael Antoine-Curier and Dougie Imrie did likewise for Accies. As a result, it was looking like we'd end up with a point - not great, but not the end of the world. Then, in the 92nd minute, Brian Easton crossed, Paixao headed and we were leaving with nothing.
Once again we struggled in the early stages - perhaps because we went with the 3-5-2 that blatantly didn't work against Accies a fortnight ago. Billy Mehmet replaced Michael Higdon and Dorman returned for Allan Johnston, with the rest of the team the same as the one that drew with Motherwell. It looked like earning the same result before another late screw up.
The league form since the start of the 2008/09 season is farcical. We have won 14 of our last 67 league games and have taken 61 points out of a possible 201 points. We have managed just three points from six games against the league's two most recently promoted sides and both of them have achieved far more in their short time in the SPL.
The only thing keeping Gus MacPherson in a job is the cup form, which has been incredible by comparison. If you're looking for omens for next Sunday, we haven't won a league game since we won the league cup semi-final - just as happened in 1987...
