Once again Saints boss Gus MacPherson mixed the pack, bringing McGinn among others back into the starting lineup after last week's draw with Kilmarnock. In fairness, it was still an attacking side - Billy Mehmet, Stewart Kean and Alex Burke all started!
McGinn struck in the 17th minute, finishing off Ian Maxwell's cross to prove he can score against teams that his grandfather wasn't once chairman of. From the report on BBC Scotland it seems like another deserved win in the capital. It was our first win since we last went to Edinburgh to face Hibs in October and also followed up last year's superb victory at Tynecastle.
The only bad point of the day was Gretna getting a last minute equaliser against Aberdeen - but as the Dons had only scored with a few minutes left I suppose we can let them away with it!
The gap to Gretna is back up to nine points, and we're just one behind Hearts and two behind Killie.
It's Aberdeen on Saturday, and while things are looking good may I provide a word of caution. Last season we ended a poor run of form with a Boxing Day win. Our next victory didn't come until after the SPL split...
