We're still searching for our first league win of the year but considering the lack of players at our disposal, and Hibs result last week, a draw is a decent result. We'd have been in a better shape if we'd converted one of those draws into a win and lost one of the other games but there's no point dwelling on that.
The lack of wins and goals is worrying but thankfully the defence has stayed strong, with today's game seeing us record our fourth clean sheet from the last game. So while the goals aren't coming, points are. We're still just two points away from seventh while bottom club Dunfermline trail us by 12 points and have just eight games left.
Today's game doesn't sound particularly exciting, Hibs having the better of the chances and Craig Samson putting in a superb performance in goal, so I won't dwell on that as I wasn't there. However, the team requires some discussion.
The line-up wasn't a surprise. With Dougie Imrie and Paul McGowan suspended and Darren McGregor, Marc McAusland, Jeroen Tesselaar and Graham Carey all injured it was basically a case of picking 10 of the fittest 11 players, Aaron Mooy the unlucky one who started on the bench. That meant Steven Thompson going straight back in and Hugh Murray making his first start of the season.
But joining Mooy on the bench were no less than McGregor, McAusland and Carey. Now, I accept we were short of players but why were three guys there who didn't have a hope of getting on? Why not put kids there? Because the under-19s were playing today. Why on earth is the main youth team playing the same day as the first team when their guys might be required for our team? It doesn't make any sense.
But enough of that. Easter Road is a hard place for us to go at the best of times yet our injury hit side has come away with a point. We've had worse days.
