A draw at Easter Road would have been a fine result and losing 2-1 isn't the end of the world. However, losing because we conceded in stoppage time is incredibly frustrating - especially as it's not the first time this season we've conceded a late goal.
There were a couple of changes to the team that lost to Rangers in midweek, Steven Robb and Lee Mair taking over from Andy Dorman and Chris Innes. The latter missed out completely, while Dorman joined new boy Rory Loy on the bench.
After the poor start on Wednesday, Saints came flying out of the traps, Billy Mehmet and Hugh Murray both going close before we took the lead thanks to Sol Bamba amusingly diverting the ball into his own net. Hibs may have a decent keeper these days, but as long as that clown is still in their team they are always suspect at the back.
That gave us the lead inside the first 10 minutes and Mehmet missed a great chance to double the lead before Hibs began to come back into things. A mistake by David Barron 10 minutes before the break presented Liam Miller with a chance to score, which he took with glee.
After that we were up against it, wave after wave of Hibs attacks being thwarted by the woodwork, last ditch defending or some excellent goalkeeping by Paul Gallacher.
It looked as if we'd done enough for a point, but in stoppage time Ian Murray fired in a cross and the unfortunate Jack Ross put it into his own goal to give the Hibees all three points.
Another bad end to a Saturday, the only bonus being most of the other relegation candidates failed to win, with the exception being St. Johnstone. An improvement in terms of creating chances, but more is needed for Tuesday's cup semi-final against Hearts.
